Monopoly: The World's Most Famous Game and How it Got That Way

Growing up, there were always board games around the house. Family game night was a staple in our home that lasted into my teen years and is a tradition that I have began for my own children. My favorite game was always Monopoly.

There was just something fun about getting the properties and going around the board over and board again. I had no problem spending the hours needed to complete the game and got quite the reputation for being a vicious Monopoly player.

Monopoly: The World's Most Famous Game and How it Got That Way is a book that details everything about the majestic game and how it became one of the most popular games in history. There are variations for everything from Twilight to Star Trek and there is no chance popularity is going to dwindle now.

The game has even made its way into the digital world with several computer programs, mobile phone apps and Facebook games. Philip Orbanes is a master of all things Monopoly and traces the game's history from a teaching tool in college to the current game. He also takes a look at the many legends and lore associated with Monopoly and how advertising worked to fix the game's place in history.

I currently have at least three different types of Monopoly games in my home and this book made me appreciate it even more. Anyone that likes playing Monopoly should have a copy of this book sitting on their table.
